Piolo Pascual on son Inigo: “Baby pa [siya noon], ngayon puwede nang magka-baby.”
Piolo Pascual says his movie Northern Lights somewhat shows his past situation with son Inigo.
Malapit sa puso ni Piolo Pascual ang pelikulang Northern Lights na kinunan sa New Zealand dahil kuwento ito ng relasyon ng mag-ama na hindi nalalayo sa naging sitwasyon nila noon ng kanyang anak na si Inigo.
“When I got wind of the project, I instantly felt personal because it’s not that I went through with my son pero sabi ko, medyo malapit sa situation ko from before and paborito ko kasi yung Pursuit of Happyness (2006) ni Will Smith before and I’ve been looking for a concept na puwede nating i-play up between a father and a son.
“Yung mga nangyayari ngayon, yung mga nalalayo rin sa mga pamilya nila. So sabi ko I just wanted to do something real, something more relatable to the audience kaya nung ipinitch sa akin and even when I got the script, napakatotoo niya.”
Si Piolo ay co-producer ng Northern Lights: A Journey to Love na mapapanood sa mga sinehan simula March 29. Si Yen Santos ang kanyang leading lady dito at si Raikko Mateo ang gumanap bilang anak ni Piolo.
“Totoong nangyayari sa buhay natin so that drew me closer to the project and working with Direk Dondon [Santos], working with Yen and Raikko.
“It’s fun to work with people for the first time na you share the same passion and I’ve always wanted to work again with Mother Lily Monteverde and Miss Roselle [Monteverde] and the chance to shoot abroad, bonus na ‘yon,” ang pahayag ni Piolo sa grand presscon ng Northern Lights na ang former title ay Once in a Lifetime.
Nilinaw ni Piolo na maliit pa lang, kilala na niya si Inigo pero hindi sila nagkasama dahil namalagi siya sa Amerika bago nagdesisyon na umuwi ng Pilipinas at mag-concentrate sa kanyang showbiz career.
“I’ve always known him around but I was in the States. So nung pag-uwi ko, magwa-one year old pa siya. Baby pa [siya noon], ngayon puwede nang magka-baby.
“Even at work, magkasama pa rin kami sa trabaho, sa ASAP every Sunday so mas nakabuti pa yung pag-uwi niya dito.
“Nakakasama ko siya, nagagabayan ko, I thought kasi sabi ko it’s gonna be hard for him especially to be in the business kung nasaan din yung tatay niya tapos hindi mo maiiwasan na ipag-compare pero what’s good about it, my son is really talented, he’s creating his own path, he has his own niche.
“Happy ako kung anuman yung tinatahak niya and at the same time, I’m very proud kasi masipag na bata saka mabait,” ang kuwento at mga papuri ni Piolo tungkol sa kanyang 19-year-old son.
